Current Issues and Thoughts

The next selectmen’s meeting is tomorrow (Monday, May 22, 5:00pm). The meeting starts with a non-public session on “legal” at 5:00pm followed by another non-public session on “reputation” at 5:45pm. The public meeting starts at 6:00pm.

Here are some highlights from the topics listed on the agenda. You can read the full agenda by clicking on the link to the left.

1. We’ll continue to discuss the process for recruiting a new town administrator (TA), and also the transition process including an interim TA.

2. Several matters relating to internal board of selectmen (BOS) procedures will be discussed, including email policy, keeping tapes of meetings, length of meetings, the level of detail of minutes of non-public sessions, and BOS goals. Some of these topics are discussed in postings on my blog (link to the left).

3. We will discuss the 2007 draft town budget schedule. This discussion may include an effort to set the “philosophy” for the 2007 budget and warrant articles. This is discussed in a posting on the blog.

4. There will be a discussion of the Ambulance Efficiency Study Committee Report.

5. We’ll continue with several unfinished items from prior meetings, including the proposal for a town-wide compensation study and the proposed purchasing guidelines presented by the TA and department heads. There are blog postings on these topics.
